Deactivate your store

As the store owner, if your store meets the required conditions, you can cancel your subscription and deactivate your store at any time via the Genstore admin.

Before deactivating your store, please make sure to read and understand the Terms of Service to ensure you're aware of the impact.

TIP

Stores on a free trial cannot be manually deactivated. Your trial store will be automatically deactivated when the trial period ends.

Cancel your subscription and deactivate your store

TIP

Deactivating your store will immediately cancel your subscription. You will lose access to the admin. To reactivate the store later, you’ll need to re-subscribe to a paid plan.

Steps to deactivate your store

1. Log in to the Genstore admin.
2. Go to Settings -> Billing.
3. In the Subscription section, click Deactivate store.
4. Select a reason for closing, and optionally provide additional comments.
5. Click Continue to confirm the deactivation.

After the store is deactivated, you can still access and download past invoices. Your store data—including sales, product, and customer information—will be retained for two years, allowing you to reactivate your store at any time.

Reactivate your store

If you decide to reopen your store, you can log in at any time and choose a plan to reactivate.

Steps to reactivate

1. Log in to the Genstore admin and select your deactivated store.
2. Click Continue subscription or Change plan.
3. Complete the payment to reactivate your store.

Store closure checklist

Account access and visibility

Admin access	The store will be marked as "Inactive" and the store admin will no longer be accessible.
Linked account	Your account remains active and can be used to reactivate the store
Data retention	Store data will be retained for 2 years; data will be automatically deleted after that period
Storefront view	Visitors will see a "Store Closed" message; recommend linking to new store or contact info
Domain handling	Both the default and custom genmystore.com domains cannot be reused. For third-party domains, please remove bindings in advance. Path: Genstore admin -> Settings -> Domains

TIP

Unique domain rule

When creating a store, the system assigns a default xxx.genmystore.com domain. You can customize it once in Genstore admin. However, whether it’s the default or a modified version, once the store is closed, the domain can no longer be used again.

Example:
If you close a store named Very Good Things with the URL
very-good-things.genmystore.com, you can still reuse the brand name when creating a new store, but you won’t be able to use the same domain.

Payments and billing

For Genstore Payments users

New payments	Customers can no longer initiate payments after the store is closed
Payouts	Pending settlement funds will be processed as usual and deposited into the merchant's bank account according to the payment settings configured prior to store closure
Refunds	Refunds and manual captures cannot be processed from the admin
Chargebacks	Merchants cannot dispute chargebacks—all disputes will be automatically accepted

For third-party payment users

New payments	Payments cannot be initiated once the store is closed
Refunds & disputes	Cannot be handled via Genstore—must be processed directly through the third-party payment provider

For manual payment users

New orders	Manual payment methods will be disabled after closure
Post-sale	Refund and return flows cannot be performed

Orders and fulfillment

Status	Restriction
Incomplete orders	Cannot proceed with payment, fulfillment, export, etc.
After-sales flows	Refund, return, and exchange processes will be disabled
Purchased labels only	Strongly recommend shipping or voiding labels in time to avoid waste
Shipped orders	Tracking updates continue, but after-sales support will no longer be available

Marketing and sales channels

Item	Status
Email campaigns	All email tasks that have not yet entered the sending queue will be paused and converted to drafts. Emails that are already in the sending process will be sent as scheduled and billed accordingly.
Automation flows	All flows will be paused
Scheduled posts	All scheduled social posts will be cancelled and saved as drafts
Popups	All active popup campaigns will be taken offline
SEO functions	All SEO scans and robots.txt rules will be disabled
Channel sync	All sales channel authorizations will be disconnected; product sync will stop

Export important assets

Item	Details
Gift cards	Please export gift card data before closing the store. Path: Genstore admin -> Products -> Gift cards -> Export gift cards
Themes	You can export theme files for use in another store. Path: Genstore admin -> Online Store -> Themes, click ... -> Download theme file
