Delete metafields

If you no longer need a metafield, you can remove its definition from your Genstore admin. Once deleted, the field will no longer appear in any product, variant, or customer detail pages.

Deletion options

When deleting a metafield definition, you can choose from two options:

• Delete field only – Removes the field definition, but keeps all previously entered values in your data (hidden but not deleted)
• Delete field and its saved values – Completely removes the field definition and permanently deletes all associated values from products, variants, and customers

TIP

If you want to retain historical data for reporting or future use, we recommend choosing Delete field only.

Things to keep in mind

• Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
• The field will be removed from all admin pages immediately
• Double-check whether the field is still being used before deleting

Operation steps

1. In your Genstore admin, go to Settings -> Metafields.
2. Select the module where the metafield is defined (e.g., Products, Customers).
3. Click the metafield you want to delete
4. Click Delete, then choose one of the options:
   • Delete field only – Keep the data but remove the definition
   • Delete field and its saved values – Remove both the definition and all stored values
