Manage page templates

This guide explains how to manage page templates in the Genstore theme editor. You can create, assign, and switch templates for different page types, allowing you to tailor layouts and content for specific products, collections, blogs, and more.

Access the page management panel

  1. In your admin, go to Online store -> Themes.
  2. Click Customize on your current theme.
  3. In the left toolbar, click the first icon to open the Page management panel.

Overview of the page management panel

The page management panel includes the following sections:

  • Page type list: Displays all page types that support custom templates (e.g. home, product, collection, blog). Some types support expandable sub-sections to show assigned templates and related pages.
  • Template list & creation: Create multiple templates under each page type. Click Create template to add a new one and name it.
    • Assigned preview: View how many pages are using each template (e.g. Assigned to 5 products) and click to preview or edit.
  • Search bar: Use the search bar to find templates or pages, including unassigned ones, for quick actions.

Create and assign a new template

  1. In the Page management panel, select a page type (e.g. product).
  2. Click Create theme and enter a name.
  3. In the popup, select one or more existing pages to assign to the new template.
  4. Confirm, then preview the result in the editor.

Search and assign unlinked pages

  1. Use the search bar to enter a page or template keyword.
  2. If a page isn’t linked to any template, click Assign to choose one from the popup list.
  3. You can also filter by unassigned pages.

Tips for managing templates

  • Use clear template names: Label templates by purpose or content (e.g. “Holiday homepage,” “Premium product layout”) to make them easy to manage.
  • Reuse templates when possible: Assign one template to multiple pages that share the same layout needs.
  • Preview before publishing: Use the top-right Preview button in the editor to verify the assigned layout and content.
