Preference settings

Genstore offers comprehensive online store preference settings that allow merchants to easily edit their store title and meta description, add tracking codes, and enable password protection for enhanced security and personalized experiences.

Edit homepage title and meta description

The homepage title and description are crucial for an e-commerce website, especially for search engine optimization (SEO) and user experience. Optimizing these elements can help your site rank better in search engines and improve visitors’ understanding of your website.

Steps

  1. Click Online Store -> Preferences.
  2. Fill in the relevant content under Title and meta description.
  3. Click Save.

Restrict store access

By default, Genstore enables password protection for new stores, helping you control who can view your online store. When this feature is active, visitors see a login page and must enter the correct password to access your store. This is especially useful if you want to offer early access to selected customers before your store goes live.

When to use

Use password protection during holidays, site maintenance, or pre-launch periods when you want to temporarily limit public access to your store.

How to manage password protection

Change the store access password

  1. Go to Online Store -> Preferences.
  2. In the Restrict store access section, check Access restricted: Only visitors with a password can access.
  3. Enter a password and share it with your intended visitors.

Turn off password protection

If you're on a paid plan, you can turn off password protection at any time.

  1. Go to Online Store -> Preferences.
  2. In the Restrict store access section, uncheck Access restricted: Only visitors with a password can access.
  3. Click Save.

Restrictive store access

If you want to allow certain visitors to access your store without a password while password protection is enabled, you can use the "restrictive access" setting. Follow these steps:

  1. In the restrict store access section, check the box for The first 5 IP accesses each day can be password-free, subsequent accesses still require a password..
  2. After saving the settings, the first 5 IP addresses per day can access the store without entering a password. Any visits beyond this limit will require the user to enter a password.

This setting is available for both trial and paid subscription users, helping you manage access permissions with flexibility.
